Butch on a Budget

Learning to dress and be dapper without much money.

Can one be dapper on a budget?

Right now I’m as broke as I’ve ever been.  No, I’m not sleeping in the streets or anything that dramatic.  I do have a job, but said job doesn’t pay much.  So yeah, there’s some money, but it’s tight.

So, here’s the question, can a person be dapper and still be on a budget?  The answer, I think, is yes.  Obviously people have managed to look good by putting together this and that on a budget for ages.  I, however, have both never had to buy my own clothes or particularly cared about looking good.

Recently I have started caring about how I look.  I might go into more detail in the future, but basically, I was never comfortable in female clothing and my way of dealing with that was to disappear into unfashionable, large clothing.  I don’t do that anymore.  I’m trying to create a wardrobe that is classically fashionable, professional, and, of course, dapper.  With very little money.

So, here’s the most recent purchase I’ve bought.  Two pairs of men’s Old Navy broken in Khakis.  One in the tan you see below and the other in a dark charcoal.  They were listed at $29.95, but there was a big sale so I got each pair for $19.95.
